My wife has one and the damn thing has some kind of odd radiator leak that only happens 20 minutes after she turns the car off. It leaks for about another 20 mins, (drip.......drip......drip......drip) then stops until it is driven again. Anyone heard of that problem? It is on the passenger side.

I don't think so. My boss has one with 102000 miles and it's been great for him.

It all depends on what your definition of shit is. In a vacuum without competition, it's not terrible. It's just extremely out matched by other vehicles in it's class/categories for most aspects (performance, reliability, looks, etc). The problem Saab seems to keep having of late. They start designing a car, take the design to level 10, then turn it back to about a 5 and send it out the door.

Every GM built Saab that's come through our doors on trade have been hunks of piles of utter shit. Kinda.

Its just worse now, trying to find parts and expertise to fix them.

I could see why... I just had to have both from springs replaced because one of them split and gouged a hole in one of the tires. Now, a fucking radiator leak. Balls.

OH and the CD player doesn't do anything and sometimes the steering wheel volume control gets stuck on "turn it way the fuck up."

It's exciting.

It's not a piece of shit, but all cars that age will start to have some issues. Don't have a hard driven turbo-model, and all the other regular advices apply here as well. Since Saab is no longer producing new cars you can get a good one cheaply. Parts are easy to find.

Back in 2008 I almost bought a 2006 93 Aero. The paint on the interior trim was coming off, leather was hard as a rock, I didn't want FWD and I didn't want to be putting premo fuel in it. So I went with a 2006 2.6 CTS instead.
I do really like the look of the 93 though, especially with whatever appearance pack it could come with and door molding removed. Handled well for a fwd car (from what I recall in numerous test drives) and I don't think lag was a big issue, they are pretty light as well.
Those 2.8L engines are finicky I think. And suspension could have been stiffer, I see one on campus all the time that has been lowered what looks to be about 1.5" all around (not slammed, juuust right), looks very good.

My brother have one, a 2004 Aero since 2008. Mechanically, it's not as bad as I would have predicted, "only" the radiators had leeks issues caused by corrosion, the rest is fine. (They were a nightmare to replace) The interior, on the other hand... It's the squeakiest piece of crap I have ever seen. EVERYTHING is making a sound of some kind.

It's a relatively fast, relatively affordable, relatively reliable and relatively comfortable car but... Try the competition before signing anything.
